ASSAULTED

As the father of 4 daughters, I’m sad and disgusted that their are men who think they have the right to force themselves on women. It’s running prevalent in society today... politics, sports, Hollywood, you name it. But those are just the high profile cases, I’m sure there are thousands of cases every day and it's even more common than we think. Not only am I pissed at the men who are doing this, but also for those who stand by and watch without speaking up. Their victims lose a piece of their soul each time they are sexually assaulted, then they feel defenseless because the man uses his power, fear, and intimidation to keep the victim quiet. Media, and society as a whole, always put the focus on the women as the victim and not on the man as the assailant. This indirectly makes it feel like an unfortunate incident that happened to her instead of a crime committed by the man.  Fortunately, there are some strong women who have made a public stand, giving courage to other victims to speak out, and I encourage you to do the same.

Here are some ways to speak up and report/support someone who has been sexually assaulted:
RAINN - www.rain.org
Hotline: 1-800-656-HOPE
Counseling and Support: www.woar.org , www.nsopw.org
